Glassman Tutoring offers the following programs tailored to suit homeschool families who desire more intensive, professional training for a designated number of weeks in order to meet specific academic and developmental goals. Eight-Week REWARDS® Reading Programs (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays)
What is REWARDS® Reading? It is a research-based, research-validated reading intervention program which helps students decode long words and increase oral and silent reading fluency. Instruction is explicit and systematic, and helps students increase content area reading skills. The goals in this program are improved reading accuracy, reading rate and transfer success to content area books; and increased fluency, confidence, and overall success.
REWARDS Intermediate, suitable for grades 4 - 6. Sessions (listed below) will be held 9:00 - 10:15 a.m.
Prerequisites: Students must have mastered decoding single-syllable words and grades 1 and 2 reading expectations, be ready for multi-syllabic words, orally read between 60 and 120 words per minute and at about grade 2.5 or better, need to improve oral reading fluency.
REWARDS Secondary, suitable for grades 6 - 12. Sessions (listed below) will be held 10:30 - 11:45 a.m.
Prerequisites: Students must generally read one- and two-syllable words correctly, have difficulty reading words with three or more syllables, read orally 60 - 120 words per minute, need to improve oral reading fluency.

Session 2: November 5, 2012 - January 18, 2013 (M,W,F) (No classes: Nov. 19-23, Dec. 24-28, Dec. 31-Jan. 4)
Session 3: January 28 - March 22, 2013 (M,W,F)

Six-Week Award-Winning Handwriting Without Tears® Programs (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
What is Handwriting Without Tears®? HWT is a printing and cursive program designed by an occupational therapist, Jan Z. Olsen, to address all handwriting needs. The program provides fun multi-sensory activities to teach handwriting in a carefully designed developmental sequence. The goals in this program are to: prevent and correct reversals; firmly establish proper grip, paper and pencil skills; increase speed and legibility; instill high-impact learning with fun, multi-sensory activities; instill confidence and pride in written work.
Why does my child need to learn handwriting? For ongoing success in these areas: spelling tests, journal writing, note taking, essay writing, aligning math problems, SOLs, handwritten notes increase memory, SATs.
